“I am everything that was, everything that is, that will be and no mortal has yet dared to lift my veil.”

These affirmations are printed on the base of the statue on what it is supposed to be the grave of the Goddess Isis. A black veil covers the face of this statue. All mysteries and knowledge of the past are hidden behind this veil. Those who question the reality as it is presented by their physical senses might have an option to uncover the veil as far as they dare and reach light and divine knowledge.

The piece has a mysterious shape and a dark sonority which contrasts with euphoric and colorful themes, representing the long path of agony and joy, failure and success, doubt and affirmation that come along with our learning and rising.

The reality of those who can see is subject to the virtue of the immortal who possess the skill of listening without any prejudices about what is true and what is not. The whole conscious experience lies between what we believe and what in fact is. To gain understanding we must be one with what we try to understand, with what we try to listen to.

Any learning process involves 3 stages - imitation, assimilation, and innovation. Creative truth, dogmatic as it may sound to the non-initiated, only reveals itself when scrupulously working out these stages. Jazz, being a language, must be learned by following this powerful triangular process. Jesús Santandreu is fully aware of it, as shown in his second project as a leader - Sound Colors.

The main sources of inspiration for Santandreu's jazz discourse are John Coltrane, Steve Grossman, and Jerry Bergonzi. What is amazing about Santandreu is his skill to draw creatively from the discourse of these 3 unquestionable masters of the tenor saxophone. Still more surprising is his capacity to combine the solid basis of his phrasing with personal and non-transferable concepts - a penetrating matte sound, the skill to exploit sonority to the extreme, the systematization of the 3 tonal centers, and the use of the whole range of the tenor, reaching 3 octaves.

Not only words can communicate what is true; every other form of art can as well. Sound is a breeding ground for thought, or perhaps sound is the result of thought. Therefore, we can infer that thought and sound are analogous. Beside the notes from every instrument, thought would be recorded in any format, in the same way as Akashic Records are ("The Akashic Records contain every act, word, thought, feeling, and intention that has ever existed […]".) I think we have found one of the keys to make this world a better place - thought joined with music reinforces its power of communication.

No wonder all colors are made up of the 3 primary ones.
